NEVER Give up!

With the game 3 loss in double overtime, the Detroit Red Wings now have their work cut out for them, being down in the 1st-round NHL '05-'06 playoffs, best-of-seven series with the Edmonton Oilers 2 games to 1. But in the words of Maurice "The Rocket" Richard: "Never give up!"

(Maurice Richard, known for his speed on the ice and his powerful shots, spent 18 years with the Montreal Canadiens. His career included eight Stanley Cup Championships, and he was the first National Hockey League (NHL) player to score 50 goals in 50 games. When he died in 2000 at the age of 78, Prime Minister Chrétien remarked of this most dedicated hockey player that he "...defined and transcended the game of hockey.")

Manny Legace: yet another reason why the Detroit Red Wings are so good!

With high hopes for a long run in the playoffs and another Stanley Cup, much rests on this 'average kid' to be way above average!

Manny Legace: " ... a 5-foot-9, 162-pound goaltender, who for most of his life looked like Spanky from the Little Rascals. A chubby, little guy who would never really be considered an athlete and was one of the last kids picked in a dodgeball game or a football game when his buddies were choosing up sides."

Remember: he has lots of help, too. BRING IT!

Red Wings are 'Lords of the Rink'

Well said! in this article by By Larry Wigge, NHL.com

Hands Off!

While the NHL's Presidents' Trophy, awarded to the team with the best regular season record, is considered an outstanding achievement, (by the way, the Wing's have received it 5 times since the first one was awarded in 1986 - no other team has more than 2), it isn't the one trophy all hockey players covet - THE Stanley Cup.

Note that when Detroit's alternate captains, Nicklas Lidstrom & Brendan Shanahan, accepted the award last Monday, 04/17/06, before their win over Dallas, (by the way again, wasn't that a great come-from-behind, 3rd period win!!!), it was "Hands Off!, Don't Touch!", least bad fortune come upon them in their quest for another championship. (Their current total is at 10 , and counting ..... )

"BRING IT!" Go Wings!!!!!

"Not Enough"

When I read this, the 04/21/06 devotional from "Our Daily Bread", I thought it to be a very important reminder of what we are to consider 'important' in life.

Please read and pass on to someone you love!

"Not Enough"

Read: Ecclesiastes 2:1-16

What profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost?
Luke 9:25

"The writer of Ecclesiastes said that pleasure, material possessions, and even great knowledge do not bring lasting satisfaction. Jesus went even further. He said that a person who possesses everything this world has to offer but doesn't prepare for eternity is spiritually destitute. We all need more than fun, finances, and fame to be fulfilled."

"Thinking about this made me consider some prominent people who had committed suicide. One was a baseball star, several were entertainers, and two had inherited great wealth. I also recalled a highly esteemed scholar and his wife who both took a lethal overdose of drugs when they learned that she had terminal cancer. These people had failed to find meaning in their existence."

"Because we were created in God's image, our lives do have meaning for both time and eternity. God made us for His glory and placed us on earth to honor Him. We have the remarkable ability to reflect on Him and on eternity."

"Believing that Jesus died for our sins and rose from the grave meets our need for meaning. Salvation brings assurance that we're forgiven. We have an eternal purpose and the hope of heaven. This is enough to bring deep peace and joy to our lives. Have you found this to be so?" —Herb Vander Lugt

Steve Yzerman: another reason why the Detroit Red Wings are so good!

Having wrapped-up the President's Trophy for the league's best record, the Wings appear in great trim to claim another Cup.

Here is another of many reasons they appear ready to have their names engraved in silver again!

"Cherish it while it lasts hockey fans, there may only be two months left in one of the NHL's greatest careers."

"Resurrection Day 2006: Hidden liberty"

As was my good friend, K.R. (and a hat tip to rougblog commentary), I too was respectfully impressed with Mr. Mark M. Alexander's column on "Resurrection Day 2006: Hidden liberty". Please take the time to read the entire essay. I trust you will find it worthy of being considered "time well spent"!

May all of mankind remember our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, not only this weekend, but each and every day, whereby we can enjoy liberty from sin and the bondage thereof!

For the truly born again believer, having placed complete faith and trust in the finished work (once and for all!) of Jesus Christ, we can praise God every day for the gift of His Son and the sacrafice He made by His blood as atonement for the sins of man.

May God be pleased to grant His blessings upon you this day and each day here after.

April 1st

It is said this is "April Fools' Day" or "All Fool's Day".

There is, however, a clear definition of 'the every day fool':
Psalm 14:1
1 "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good."

The contrast between the wise & the fool:
Proverbs 1:7
7 "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction."

The ways of the fool, written about 2000 years ago, are sadly still so true today:
Romans 1:16-32
16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek."
17 "For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith."
18 "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;"
19 "Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them."
20 "For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:"
21 "Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened."
22 "Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,"
23 "And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things."
24 "Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:"
25 "Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen."
26 "For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:"
27 "And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet."
28 "And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;"
29 "Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,"
30 "Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,"
31 "Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:"
32 "Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them."

Be not a fool; be wise. Trust in the work of the Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ , and develop a close, personal relationship with Him.
I know you will never regret it!
